I am new to NENS and would just like a subscription to Recovery Act notices, what can I do ?

In this case you probably don't have a profile yet, and that is required before you can create subscriptions. Four steps are required:
  • Establish a new profile.
  • Activate the profile. This is equivalent to letting the system know your email address works.
  • Create a new subscription for that profile, selecting Recovery Act:
    Subscription Choices Screen Shot
  • Activate the subscription, which is a separate step since the system uses email to verify your actions.
Once you have completed these steps, any new Recovery Act notices for the Center you chose (or ALL Centers if that is the case) will generate an email to you with information on the notice. (See email example below)

Disclaimer: Due to the nature of the internet, successful delivery of all notifications can not be guaranteed. In the event of network, server or application errors which cause notifications to be undeliverable or returned, no attempt will be made to re-deliver the notifications affected. The email notification component of NAIS is not intended to replace normal access to the system for information gathering purposes. No guarantee is made that you will receive every notice generated by the system, or that notices will be delivered in a certain time frame. Subscribers are ultimately responsible for reviewing the NASA Business Opportunities component of the NAIS system for all information relevant to desired acquisitions.

How do I know when I am done creating a profile and/or subscriptions ?

When you see a "<<< Success >>>" heading within the NENS application, that indicates your profile or subscription has been set up properly and no further action is required for that part of the process.

I have followed all the directions, but still do not receive any notices. How can I leave feedback ?

NENS provides a standard Feedback form like the other NAIS applications to give the user the opportunity to send comments, suggest improvements or otherwise inform NAIS Support of any NENS problems you have. You can find that link here NENS Feedback. We recommend you submit problems via the Trouble Ticket system instead if you encounter errors or unexpected system messages, so their resolution can be tracked.

I created my profile, why didn't I receive an email ?

  1. Sometimes the email may be delayed if a system or network error occurred, please be patient.
  2. If there was not a system error and you still have not received an email then you have entered your email address incorrectly.
To check this, attempt to create a profile again.

If you entered your email address incorrectly, the system will allow you to create the profile. If you entered your email address correctly then the system will tell you that a profile already exists. In this case, the email may have been blocked by a spam filter or some other email filtering tool.
You may contact NAIS Technical Support for further assistance.

Why does the PIN I received in the email to activate my profile not work ?

The PIN or passcode must be entered exactly as shown. It is case sensitive. Hint: if you used copy and paste to enter the PIN from the email, please check to make sure you did not copy an extra space before or after the PIN.

If you still have problems, please contact NAIS Technical Support.

Why did the PIN I received in the email to activate my subscription not work ?

The PIN or passcode must be entered exactly as shown. It is case sensitive. Hint: if you used copy and paste to enter the PIN from the email, please check to make sure you did not copy an extra space before or after the PIN. Please make sure you are not using the PIN you received in an earlier email to activate your profile or another subscription. Each action the system initiated by you will have a different PIN number for conformation or activation. If you created 2 different subscriptions, each subscription will have its own email, subscription ID and passcode/PIN.

If you still have problems, please contact NAIS Technical Support.

I created a subscription, why am I not receiving any notifications ?

Notifications are sent for all criteria matching your subscriptions. If an opportunity was posted before you created your subscription, you will not receive a notification for it until a change has been made to that posting. Notifications are not retroactive. They are not sent on previously posted opportunities unless there is a change to them. You may use the Business Opportunities search function to check for any opportunities posted before you created your subscription. If you do identify an opportunity that you believe you should have received a notification for and did not, please contact NAIS Technical Support.

I used to receive notifications for my subscription, why have they stopped coming ?

Use the NAIS Business Opportunities search function to check and make sure there have been opportunities posted that meet the criteria of your subscription. If there have been and you did not receive emails for these, then your profile may have been deactivated by the system. You will need to contact NAIS Technical Support to have your profile re-activated.

One of the reasons a profile may be deactivated is the number of rejected or undeliverable notices from the email system that are received. If your company has implemented a new spam or other email filtering software, it may be reject emails from our system. This can cause your account to be deactivated. One way to check for this is to request a subscription report from the system. You may do this by clicking on the subscription report link at the top right hand corner of the page. If you do not receive the subscription report then it may have been blocked. All emails come from the following address NENS@msfc.nasa.gov. Please ensure that emails from this address are allowed through you email filters. Again, you will need to contact NAIS Technical Support. to have your profile re-activated.

Do I need to create a new subscription for each NAICS code, Class code or Center I wish to receive notifications for ?

Yes, the system does not support multiple codes or centers on one subscription. Each code and center combination will need its own subscription. Hint: You can create a subscription for specific notices at All Centers rather than creating one for each Center individually. You may also create a subscription for All Class Codes or All NAICS Codes rather than individual codes, if that would better suit your needs.

How do I change the code or center in an existing subscription?

You cannot change a subscription. You may delete the subscription and then create a new one but an existing subscription cannot be edited.

I am trying to enter an email subscription for a specific NAICS Code, why can I not find it on the drop down list ?

All current NAICS codes as defined by the U.S Census Bureau are displayed. A new list of codes is pulished by the Census Bureau every 5 years. For more information on NAICS codes from the U.S. Census Bureau, go to: http://www.census.gov/eos/www/naics/index.html. You may also try to find a Class code that is more generalized and includes your product or service.
